THE HOT SAUCE
ShoeHorne Sisters Err’Day™ Carolina Reaper Pepper Hot Sauce is carefully handcrafted with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of Carolina Reaper Peppers delivering a kick that’s exciting but never overwhelming to your taste buds. It’s the kind of hot sauce that makes steak, chicken, and seafood better… tacos, soups, and rice dishes bolder, burgers and breakfast slightly heroic without making you question your life choices. The crown jewel of our recipe is the Carolina Reaper Pepper, the 2nd hottest pepper in the World, created by Smokin’ Ed Currie in South Carolina. And the World has been Thankful ever since! We here believe 2nd Place is better than 1st because everyone is #1! * Mr. Currie also created Pepper X, Officially the Hottest Pepper in the World! He actually is #1.
We keep it simple: Fresh Produce, Fresh Herbs, Spices, and Carolina Reaper Peppers that know how to behave. No fillers, no weird science experiments, and absolutely no fake “Spice for Show” or “World’s Hottest” nonsense – just real flavor with attitude and Sisterly Love. We’re Not Goin’ for Braggin’ Rights, Just Appetites™!
Go ahead! Add it to everything, Err’Day™! You’ll thank us… Eventually.
OUR STORY
Oddly enough, our story began with two estranged brothers on opposite sides of the country reuniting after decades of tumult, a derailed startup business based on a co-invention with a former World Champion Skateboarder, and the support of a loving woman.
With Tariffs Galore, a shared dream to bring to market a multi-purpose tool for skateboarders, which took 3 years to get a patent, was derailed for obvious reasons. Without a pathway forward we had to pivot and adapt to the times.
As this new reality settled in, something was growing on the East Coast in the South Carolina soil… a personal crop of Carolina Reaper Peppers. Grown by Mr. Shoemaker’s brother, harvested, dried, processed into flakes, and shipped off to Los Angeles, California… where an old flame to create a hot sauce was reignited and has now become ShoeHorne Sisters.
ShoeHorne is a mashup of the last names of our Foodie Founders in Love, J. Michael Shoemaker, our recipe creator, formerly an Author, Producer, and U.S. Navy Desert Storm Submarine Veteran, who was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina and Suzan Horne, the unwavering and loving support behind this venture, a two time breast cancer survivor, and Interior Designer/Owner of Give Me Shelter Design, Inc. in Los Angeles, California, and the exceptional palate that steered our way to culinary perfection.
So, we’re not actual sisters. But if hot sauce had sisters, we’d be the kind that shows up uninvited, sets things on fire, and somehow make everyone better off for it. Why Sisters, then? Well, none of this would have been possible if it weren’t for the love and support received over the years from real sisterly educators, nurturers, agitators, instigators, disrupters, and overall pioneering women that made and continue to make a difference in the lives of others. This is our way of saying we see you and appreciate you!
Whether you’re drizzling, dipping, or inviting your friends to try it, ShoeHorne Sisters is here to bring people together around the World with flavor and well-balanced heat — one bottle at a time.
Err’Day?
What used to be a colloquial way of saying Every Day has now become more of a lifestyle minus the toxic masculinity! See Wiz Khalifa’s song titled “Errday”, or don’t. Over the years, Hip Hop Culture has morphed the meaning to be the Best of Everything You Do Every Day! ShoeHorne Sisters Err’Day™ Carolina Reaper Pepper Hot Sauce is just that, the Best of Everything We Do Err’Day™.
We fancy our hot sauce to be imbued with the essence of South Carolina’s Coastal Sea Islands giving credit to where credit is due. The reason: Having grown up in the Lowcountry along the coast of South Carolina in the 70s and 80s Mr. Shoemaker was fortunate to have been exposed to some of the best “Southern Cooking” throughout his childhood… which was actually Gullah Cuisine. What is Gullah Cuisine you might ask? It is the food of the Gullah Geechee people that live on the Coastal Sea Islands of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Looking back, Mr. Shoemaker credits Gullah food as the spark that drives his passion for flavorful food of all cultures beyond just, Salt and Pepper. If you have an interest in Gullah food we recommend you checkout the cookbook Gullah Geechee Home Cooking by Emily Meggett, a Matriarch of Gullah Cooking.
And, it probably wouldn’t hurt to add a little ShoeHorne Sisters Err’Day™ Carolina Reaper Pepper Hot Sauce too…
